"The 2022 Sauvignon Blanc Parcel 3 is outstanding, with a bright, crisp, almost racy style. Crushed stone, lime, and minty notes all shine here, and it's medium-bodied as well, with a touch more mid-palate density and depth. It's another outstanding, impeccably made white to drink over the coming 2-3 years or more." - Jeb Dunnuck
This wine leads with the aromas of lemon zest, wet river rocks and the slightest impression of fresh cut grass. The palate is bright and lively redolent of lemon meringue and hints of white pepper.
Owned by the Eakle family, Pope Valley Winery is located in the northeastern hills just beyond Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. Our 80 planted acres yield distinctive wines characteristic of our Pleasanton loam and Bressa-Dibble complex soil.
This wine was macerated a bit on the skins, partially fermented in stainless steel, and three months in 17% neutral oak barrels, adding density and mid-palate richness.
Since this fruit is picked early, before we are busy making other wines we have ample time to focus on coaxing out all of the subtle complexity of the grapes. We employ a multitude of regimens to various sub-lots picked over the course of about 3 weeks and end up making about 8 unique wines which are blended to create our three SB releases.
