Aromas of fresh black plums, black pepper jerky, and violet entice you to taste this big juicy, mouth coating wine and revel in flavors of black currant and cedar, braced by subtle graphite; on the finish you find fine, dense tannins and fresh wild mushroom undertones.
Vineyard Notes
Pope Valley Winery is located in the northeastern hills just beyond Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. We have a warm growing climate with cool evenings and mornings which allow the grapes to hang on the vine long enough to ripen to their fullest potential yet cool enough at night to develop complex varietal aromas.
Winemaker Notes
Berries were 100% destemmed to tank and fermented over the course of 21 days. Upon pressing, the wine was racked to French oak barrels, of which 25% were new, where it rested for 24 months prior to bottling.
