Camphor, dried tobacco, and basil abound! Integrated acid and soft tannins give this wine its characteristic plush, round mouthfeel. A fine palate of English plums, raspberry gratin, and dried thyme makes the Merlot versatile enough for any meal.
These vineyards yield rich fruit forward wines characteristic of the terroir. Pope Valley vineyards are located in the North-Eastern hills of the Vaca Mountains in a town called Pope Valley within the Napa Valley Appellation. The soil is a pleaston loam with areas of a BressaDibble complex. Pope Valley is a warm growing climate with cool evenings and mornings which allow the grapes to hang on the vine long enough to ripen to their fullest potential and cool enough at nights to develop complex varietal aromas.
Berries were 100% destemmed to tank and fermented over the course of 18 days. Upon pressing, the wine was racked to 60 gal French oak barrels, of which 30% were new, where it rested for 22 months prior to bottling.
