Tasting Notes
The taster is greeted with inviting aromas of bramble berries, chocolate and oyster mushrooms; on the palate the wine is both juicy and savory with notes of fig and black pepper; the finish is meaty and supported by balanced acidity and fine tannins.
Vineyard Notes
Pope Valley Winery is located in the northeastern hills just beyond Howell Mountain in Napa Valley. Our two estate vineyards with a combined 80 planted acres, at the winery and our Eakle Ranch vineyard, yield rich distinctive wines characteristic of the terroir. Our wines showcase the mineral complexity of the soils -Pleasanton loam and Bressa-Dibble complex.
Production Notes
This is the only red we produced in 2020. It was hand harvested and crushed straight to an open top barrel for fermentation.
