New Label and Website for Pope Valley Winery
February 5th, 2008January 2008, Pope Valley, CA — Pope Valley Winery is proud to announce the completion of a rebranding of the historic winery’s wine packaging and marketing efforts. A new label and website design complete the project.
Pope Valley Winery worked with Tincknell & Tincknell and Erickson Designs to design the new look for the winery brand. Pope Valley Winery celebrated it’s 110th year since its founding, and the new branding was developed to reflect the winery’s amazing heritage.
The design team worked to capture the history of Pope Valley Winery into the designs. The new logo uses an elegant script to create a feeling of history, along with sepia-toned grapevine leaves to accentuate the historical aspect. Situated in a contemporary setting like on a wine bottle or in a website, it reflects the continuous and ongoing heritage of the estate.
The new website is oriented more towards online customers via an active news blog, secure shopping cart, and more pictures and photos of the historic winery and vineyards.
Pope Valley Winery was founded in 1897 by Ed Haus. The winery is a showcase of 19th century winemaking technology; the main building - situated on top of the Haus Creek that meanders through the property so as to conserve usable land - rises three stories against a hillside so as to use gravity to move the wine from stemmer/crusher to press to barrel. The winery is built into the hillside to create cave-like cool temperatures and higher humidity for the bottom barrel room.
Also on the property is the original homestead family house, and a blacksmiths workshop with century-old equipment inside.
Pope Valley Winery hand-crafts wines from the estate Eakle Ranch and the nearby Meyercamp Ranch in the Pope Valley Region of Napa Valley. Pope Valley is situated above Napa Valley in the Vacas Mountains on the backside of Howell Mountain. The region’s wineries are in the process of drafting formal recognition of the region through an application for an American Viticultural Area demarcation from the federal government.
Pope Valley Winery is noted for its Old Vine and Late Harvest Chenin Blancs from Meyercamp Ranch, and Eakle Ranch Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon, Sangiovese, Sangiovese Rosé, Zinfandel, and Zinfandel Port.
